            KPPU Extends Closure

Further to our client update (click here to read), the KPPU has extended its closure period to 6 April 2020. According to the press release, the KPPU will commence its activities on 7 April 2020, subject to further notice.

            Consequences

            1. Case hearing

All case hearings will be rescheduled starting from 7 April 2020. To comply with the government’s call for social distancing, the KPPU may hold a virtual hearing to read a decision.

            2. Merger filing

In contrast to the previous release, the KPPU will freeze all timeline for merger control activities and the timeline will only be resumed from 7 April 2020 onwards. This means that the statutory deadlines for merger filing, clarification and assessment will be extended by 14 business days.
