Assegaf Hamzah Forges Alliance with Leading Regional Law Firm

We are pleased to announce that Assegaf Hamzah & Partners has entered into a strategic alliance with Singapore-based law firm Rajah & Tann for the purpose of providing our clients with a one-stop shop for all their legal needs in the region.

Assegaf Hamzah is now the fourth largest law firm in Indonesia, with some 60 lawyers and award-winning practices in capital markets and corporate finance. The firm is also a market leader in antitrust, aviation, technology, telecommunications, M&A, and commercial litigation/arbitration.

For its part, Rajah & Tann is Southeast Asia’s largest law firm, with an arsenal of over 370 lawyers and top-tier practices in dispute resolution, international arbitration, insolvency, restructuring and shipping. It is the only regional law firm with a physical presence and full-service capabilities in eight out of the 10 Asean countries. The addition of Assegaf Hamzah brings the total number of lawyers in the alliance to 430.

Alongside our partnership with Rajah & Tann, we will continue to maintain our existing close relations with the leading global law firms.

The new tie-up comes against a backdrop of increasing consolidation in the legal services industry around the world. As the planet grows smaller and business is increasingly conducted on a cross-border basis, it has become essential for market-leading firms, particularly in Indonesia, to expand their service capacity through the forging of strategic alliances

What does all this mean for our clients? We believe that the partnership with Rajah & Tann will be of immediate and concrete benefit to our clients by affording them direct access to the unparalleled regional expertise and experience of Rajah & Tann through a network that includes offices or affiliates in Singapore, China, Thailand, Lao PDR, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, and now Indonesia, as well as regional desks focusing on Japan and South Asia. As a result, our clients will be able to call upon the services of a fully-fledged integrated team offering the broadest range of legal services across all the major markets of Asean.

In short, the strategic alliance between Assegaf Hamzah and Rajah & Tann will expand and enhance our capacity throughout the region, and provide our clients with the reach and resources that are essential to successfully doing business in the new Asia.
