Tsurayya joined Assegaf Hamzah & Partners in 2013 as an economist. Tsurayya leverages her economic background to provide incisive analysis and strategic advice on a wide range of legal matters, working collaboratively with the firm's lawyers. Her core expertise lies in competition and antitrust, where she has been involved in significant cartel cases and merger notifications across various sectors.
Her advisory work regularly involves the application of industrial economics and financial principles to competition law issues, including competition compliance, cartel and abuse of dominance proceedings, and merger filings. Tsurayya's analytical skills are crucial in preparing market definitions, assessing market structure and dominance, evaluating pricing strategies, determining competitive and market impacts, analysing cost structures, and conducting financial due diligence for cases before the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU) and appellate bodies.
In addition to her competition law expertise, Tsurayya has developed a specialisation in halal product assurance regulations. Her comprehensive understanding, informed by both legal frameworks and underlying principles, coupled with extensive training, makes her a go-to resource within the firm in this area. Furthermore, she contributes her economic acumen to regulatory projects, assisting with the development of regulatory and public policies, supporting legislative changes, and quantifying the economic impact of regulatory administrative burdens.
Tsurayya holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Indonesia and a graduate degree in Economics, specialising in industrial organisation, market regulation, and competition and antitrust policy, from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2024, she completed her bachelor’s degree in law.
