Doni is a corporate and commercial lawyer specialising in M&A transactions.
He has represented firms operating across a variety of industries, including energy, startup, fintech, technology and telecommunications, in their corporate commercial matters, involving a variety of business transactions such as acquisitions, foreign direct investments and cross-border fundraising.
Bachtiar earned his Bachelor of Laws Degree (S.H.) from University of Pelita Harapan (2014) and went on to pursue his Master of Laws Degree (LL.M.) from the National University of Singapore in 2018, majoring in Corporate and Financial Services Law. Bachtiar was awarded the Riady Scholarship, a fully funded scholarship granted to outstanding Indonesian students who apply to the National University of Singapore to attain a law degree.

- Assisted JA Mitsui Leasing Ltd., in its acquisition of a 20% share in PT Bussan Auto Finance, an Indonesian multifinance company, from Mitsui Co. Ltd. (“Mitsui”) through a share purchase agreement. At the time of the transaction, the shareholders of PT Bussan Auto Finance were Mitsui (65%), Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. (17.7%), PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (2.3%), and an Indonesian shareholder (15%). (2023)
- Assisted a client in the disposal of its 75% equity interest in a leading pharmacy group, including its subsidiaries and associated companies, to a prominent healthcare provider. The disposal allows the client to focus on expanding its convenience store segment (2023).
- Assisted PT ABM Investama Tbk in relation to its acquisition of 30% (1,764,705,900 shares) of the total issued and paid-up shares in PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk., from GMR Coal Resources Pte. Ltd, which is part of Indian infrastructure conglomerate, GMR Group. (2022)
- Provided advice to PT WIR Asia Tbk, a leading augmented reality technology company, on an Initial Public Offering (IPO). (2022)
- Advised Credit Saison in US$60 million Series B funding of Julo, an Indonesian peer-to-peer lending platform.
- Represented Edotco in the acquisition of up to 859 cellular towers from XL with a purchase value of up to Rp750 billion.
- Advised Schenck Process Group (SP Mining) on the sale of its mining-related business to Sandvik.
- Represented Archroma in the acquisition of textile effects business from Huntsman Corporation.
